What is the Regents' Test? The Regents' Test is a reading and writing comprehension test instituted by the Georgia Board of Regents. It is a degree requirement for all students in the University System of Georgia. Am I required to take both parts of the Regents' Test?Yes. There are a few exemptions based on SAT, AP, & ACT scores and English grades. Those exemptions are outlined at Regents/Exemptions. When do I have to take it?All students must take the Regents' Test before their 45th credit hour. Transfer students must take the test by their second semester of enrollment. If a student does not take the test within this time period, they will be required to take the writing and/or reading remediation classes. For more information on these requirements, go to Regents/Exemptions. How do I register? At the appropriate time, you will be prompted through SHIP to register for the Regents' Test and will not be allowed to register until you do so. Once you have registered, you will not be able to change your registration information. If you need to reschedule your test date or time, contact the Division of Student Affairs at 344-2582. You will receive periodic emails to your AASU students email account with test reminders. What if I don't pass the test?Students, who have exceeded the 45-hour limit, and do not pass any or all parts of the Regents' Test, are required to take one or both of the remedial reading or writing classes each semester until they have passed the Regents' Test. Contact the Office of Academic Orientation and Advisement at 344-2570 for more information on reading or writing remediation. For more information on the Regents' Test, go to Regents' Test. |
