Student Complaints and InquiriesIn all instances involving complaints of an academic nature, the student may make a complaint informally or formally in writing to the faculty member involved in the situation. If this discussion proves unsatisfactory, the student should then consult the department head. Complaints that are not resolved may be addressed to the Dean of the College or School, and if necessary, to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty. An impartial examination of the situation will occur and a response to the complaint will be provided. The Office of Student Affairs can provide assistance to the student in determining the nature of the complaint and/or appropriate process.In all instances involving complaints of a non-academic matter a student may make a complaint informally or formally in writing to the staff member involved in the situation. If this discussion proves unsatisfactory, the student should then consult the supervisor. Complaints that are not resolved may be addressed to the departmental director, and if necessary, at the vice president level of that division. An impartial examination of the situation will occur and a response to the complaint will be provided. Should a student desire assistance in determining the nature of the complaint and/or the appropriate staff member or department to go to in initiating the complaint, the Office of Student Affairs can provide guidance in the complaint process. Any form of harassment between students, neither of whom is employed by the University, should be treated as a disciplinary matter and should be reported to the Office of Student Affairs. All students should report any form of harassment that they experience, observe, hear about, or believe may be occurring. No student should assume that an official of Armstrong Atlantic State University knows about a specific situation. It will not be tolerated at Armstrong Atlantic State University. A suspected honor violation may be reported in one of two ways: Self-reporting. Students who have committed an honor violation should report themselves to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs in the Division of Student Affairs or to a faculty member.Anyone (faculty member of student) may report the offense directly to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs or to the Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty. Therefore, all conduct violations will be immediately reported to the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs by any person who has knowledge of the commission of any violation. The Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs is the University Disciplinary Officer.
