Tybee Island

Tybee Island is Savannah's beach and is a scenic 25 minute drive east of the city. Tybee, with its vast marshes and diverse marine life, is a natural destination for classes on ecology; but there is much more! We invite you to join us to explore and experience this quietly charming, coastal enclave. Please prepare for an active, varied program schedule. Live and learn on "Tybee Time" for a while!

The Ocean Plaza Beach Resort occupies prime beachfront property within steps of the Tybee pavilion and pier. There is ample free parking and two refreshing outdoor pools as well as beautiful restaurant and lounge with stunning ocean views. Each comfortable room offers a private balcony with a view of the pool to relax on as well as a king size or 2 queen size beds. A limited number of smoking rooms are available upon request. Ocean front room upgrades are available for an additional cost.

Please click on the hotel's website link below for more details, directions, and photos. In addition, www.mapquest.com is an excellent resource for driving directions.

There is no free transportation available from the airport. Cab fare from Savannah/Hilton Head International is approximately $50 each way for one person with a $5.00 charge for each extra rider. A private vehicle is recommended for exploring areas just beyond Tybee Island.
