Eligibility

Students who have a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities may be eligible for services. Such impairments include (but are not limited to): mobility impairment, visual impairment, hearing impairment, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, acquired brain injury, psychological disorders and medical disorders.

Services are available to students who:

  1. Self-identify to the Office of Disability Services
  2. Participate in an intake interview with the Director of Disability Services to determine needs and accommodations
  3. Provide appropriate documentation of the disability which supports the accommodations being requested

Accommodations are determined on an individual basis, based on the documentation provided and the interview with the student. Accommodations that are considered reasonable and do not fundamentally alter the nature of the program or course may be appropriate. Students must meet all admission and academic standards. Accomodations are not a substitute for appropriate medical treatment, medication or counseling. The purpose of accommodations is to provide access to the academic material and access to demonstrate mastery of the material.
