Athletics and Activity Programs.


ATHLETICS - Armstrong's athletic fee of $116 enables students to participate in athletic events and utilize AASU's gymnasium, indoor swimming pool, fitness center and outdoor athletic facilities. The intercollegiate sports program includes golf, women's cross country, tennis, softball, baseball, volleyball and basketball. As charter members of the Peachbelt Conference, Armstrong is active in NCAA Division II competition

BAND
- A local organization of persons interested in music and performing for university and community events.

CALLIOPE
- The campus literary magazine. Any interested student may submit original works for consideration or serve on the publications staff.

CHAOS - (Communication, Help, Advisement, Orientation and Service) is an orientation program designed to provide new students with the information, and support essential to a successful transition into the Armstrong community. CHAOS participants receive individual attention from student leaders and staff as they acquire first hand experience with academic advising, registration, campus facilities, student activities, university policies and procedures.
Competitive selection of the CHAOS student leaders occurs annually during Spring Semester. Inquiries concerning CHAOS should be addressed to the Division of Student Affairs.

CHEERLEADERS - A group of male and female students devoted to the promotion of school spirit at athletic functions.

CHORUS - A local group whose purpose is to insure the promotion of and participation in good music.

CAMPUS UNION BOARD
- The group that coordinates social, cultural and entertainment programs for the campus. Membership on any of CUB’s five standing committees is open to all students. CUB sponsors speakers, concerts, exhibits, comedians and performing arts programs. Annual CUB events include a Beach Bash (late August), Celebrate AASU (October), a Drive In Movie (Fall), Homecoming (Winter) and Black History Month (February).

EMERGING LEADER - A free, noncredit series of weekly leadership training sessions for potential student leaders. The program is coordinated by the Student Affairs Office during fall semester and sponsored by the Student Government Association.

GOSPEL CHOIR
- The AASU Gospel Choir is a group of students dedicated to fostering awareness of gospel music and unity among all students and and the community through public performances.

INKWELL - The bi-monthly university newspaper. Any interested student may qualify for a staff position.

INTRAMURALS
- The intramural sports program provides opportunities for participation, regardless of ability, in a wide variety of sports and recreational programs. Activities such as flag football, volleyball, basketball, golf, softball, soccer, weight lifting and aerobics provide opportunities to develop friendships and to increase physical activitiy for students, faculty and staff. Teams also represent Armstrong Atlantic in extramural flag football, softball, volleyball, soccer, crew and equestrian competitions.

MASQUERS - The drama group on campus. This organization produces all theatrical production and any interested student is encouraged to participate.

AASU DANCE TEAM
- A group of dancers dedicated to promoting school spirit and entertainment at athletic and other events.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION
- The student government organization of the campus whose purpose is to further the development of the university and its student body. All AASU students are members and those who meet academic requirements (see SGA Constitution) are encouraged to participate in either the executive, legislative or judicial branches.

STUDENT PHOTOGRAPHIC SERVICES
- Student photographers who are employed to produce I.D. cards and provide photo services for campus publications, individuals and the campus in general.
